MAJORCA

The number of Germans falls, while the number of British rises.
It is mainly the flow of Germans to Mallorca that has fallen off.  It is calculated that for next year the number of German tourists will go back to 1998 levels.  In compensation, the number of British tourists rises.

As Joan Mesquida, the Inland Revenue Delegate for the Balearic region, has declared, the total number of foreign tourists in Majorca and the rest of the Balearics is forecast to fall 5.5% with respect to the previous year.  Since summer visitors also remain less time in the islands, the number of nights stayed also falls more than 14% in comparison with 2001.
In the light of the above, tourism in the Balearics drops to its level for 1998.
According to this report, the number of German tourists is expected to fall 14.4%, while the number of British tourists will rise 7.9%.
