Square Tins
Sainsbury’s, the leading British supermarket chain, wants to replace the round tins on its shelves with square tins. The company claimed this would save space. Square tins are easier to pile up and fall over less, and the company calculates that the change would allow them to place 20% more tins on its shelves.
For the time being, Sainsbury’s will try out this new idea by offering its own-brand soups in the new container. If it is successful, Sainsbury’s will also offer vegetables, spaghetti and fruit in its square tins, but not pineapple slices.
