The labelling of foods with genetically modified ingredients is going to change completely from the beginning of next year. In their second reading on the 2nd of July, the European Parliament passed two decrees for the admission, labelling and monitoring of genetically modified food and animal feed.This thereby affirmed the joint opinion of the Council on the essential points. In addition, an authorisation to issue domestic laws to regulate coexistence was accepted.A press item is shortly expected in the EU Official Journal. The new law will come into effect 20 days later and must be enforced six months afterwards.
