McDonald's Spanish Unit Posts 506 Mln Euro Turnover for 2002.
McDonald's Espana, the Spanish unit of U.S. fast food chain McDonald's, posted a 506 mln euro ($545 mln) turnover for 2002, up 11.3 pct year-on-year. McDonald's Espana 2001 turnover stood at 454 mln euro ($489 mln). McDonald's Espana invested 40 mln euro ($43 mln) in the opening of 26 restaurants in 2002. The company created 1,300 jobs in Spain in 2002. McDonald's Espana increased the number of its restaurants in Spain to 334 with a staff of over 16,000 in 2002. McDonald's Espana plans to invest 150 mln euro ($161 mln) for the period 2002 to 2005. The investments envisage opening of 100 McDonald's restaurants with a staff of 5,000 over the period. McDonald's currently has over 30,000 restaurants in 121 countries, of which 55 in Europe, and serves daily over 46 million clients.
