RIU inaugurates its ninth hotel in the Dominican Republic

Riu Palace Punta Cana, a 5-star holiday resort complete with rooms for incentive trips, opens its doors

The all-inclusive Riu Palace Punta Cana, a 5-star resort with 612 rooms, the RIU chain’s ninth establishment in the Dominican Republic, opened its doors Friday, April 28, 2006.
The new resort comprises a 4-storey building and a spacious, 63,000-square-metre garden on the beachfront, as well as several suites with Jacuzzis.
The establishment offers spacious areas for relaxation, entertainment and sport, as well as specialised wellness and fitness services. Furthermore, the resort is close to a shopping area and the casino in the neighbouring Riu Palace Macao.
Riu Palace Punta Cana also offers an extensive entertainment and activities programme, live music and performances.
In the gastronomy department, guests have a choice of 5 theme restaurants offering international and à la carte specialities and grilled, Italian, Japanese and Brazilian dishes.
Aside from its wide array of appealing features as a holiday resort, Riu Palace Punta Cana boasts two meeting rooms, which makes it an excellent destination for incentive tourism and business trips.

The hotel is owned by the RIU chain, which has invested over 50 million euros in its construction. In Punta Cana, RIU also operates the Riu Taíno, Riu Naiboa, Riu Melao, Riu Palace Macao and ClubHotel Riu Bambú. In Puerto Plata, RIU operates the ClubHotel Riu Merengue, ClubHotel Riu Mambo and ClubHotel Riu Bachata.

Riu Palace Punta Cana is the chain’s 28 resort in the Caribbean. Aside from its 9 resorts in the Dominican Republican, RIU has 2 in Cuba, 1 in the United States, 11 in Mexico, 3 in Jamaica, 1 in the Bahamas and 1 in Aruba. The RIU chain launched its international expansion precisely 15 years ago in Punta Cana, with the inauguration of Riu Taíno. During this time, RIU has become one of the major international brands to operate in the zone, with over 13,000 rooms and a number of international awards.
The chain has 110 hotels in 18 countries and over 17,000 employees.
