The use of this adjective is subject to greater restriction
The producers of Italy’s parmesan cheese have won the day in the suit regarding brand rights they brought before the European Court against cheap competition in their own country.  In future, producers will not be able to use the adjective “parmesan” for cheap imitations of the world-famous hard cheese.
