HOSTELCO PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE HOTEL AND CATERING SECTOR WITH AN EXHIBITION

Hostelco’s parallel activities

Hostelco is engaged in the final preparations of the parallel activities programme and the trade section comprising 950 stands. As part of the programme, Hostelco is paying tribute to the companies and public and private institutions, which have contributed to the development of the sector in Spain, with the new exhibition called 100 years of hospitality. It will showcase different pieces which represent the periods to have had the most influence on the sector over the last century. Alongside the exhibition, an area called Design, Innovation and Technology will feature the latest technologies thereby providing visitors with new ideas with which to face the new challenges that arise from changes in the market.

Gastronomy in Hostelco

The Forum of the Stars is also incorporating new features. The new space Stars in the Kitchen will inform visitors about the reasons which motivated famous figures to invest in the restaurant business. To date the following have confirmed their presence: Lucía Dominguín, involved in the restaurant Rocamador (Extremadura) and Concha García Campoy, with the Estudio 54 project (Madrid). This space will also provide the setting for various round table debates on current topics such as the preparation of menus for means of transport, the media boom experienced by chefs in recent years, the new trends in restaurant decor and fashion for waiters.

Lastly, some of the most important chefs in Spain will participate in various master classes on traditional dishes with two versions, a classic one and a more up to date one. Hilario Arbelatiz, Martín Berasategui, Marisa Sánchez, Francis Paniego, Paquita and Lolita Reixach and Ramón Freixa will be present in this space called Tradition and Modernity.

The Cultural Coffee Forum is organising the area called Coffee Liqueur and Cigar, which will consist of various technical seminars and tastings, and bring in different coffee producers. This year, there will be five guest countries and regions with various types of coffee, so far unknown to many, such as coffee from the Canaries, Mexico, the Carrado region in Brazil and the Papete region in Tahiti.

Hostelco will also feature various technical seminars such as those organised by the publication Restauración News, one on productivity and another on design in the hotel and catering industry.

Expolimp Activities

Expolimp will also have parallel activities such as the Dry Cleaners of the future space, a reproduction of three dry cleaning establishments, installed by the Tintorers de Catalunya, which will show the possibilities provided by the new generations of machinery to renovate businesses and give better service without sacrificing quality. There will also be technical seminars the aim of which is to provide cleaning, dry cleaning and laundry professionals with the keys to the latest technical and management advances.

Capture of international visitors

The parallel activities together with a broad representation of the trade will consolidate this year’s exhibition in terms of visitors, since it will give them the opportunity to see the latest products and trends and also to share one of Europe’s benchmark meeting points with the sector’s protagonists.

On the final stretch leading up to the exhibition, the organisers are stepping up the campaign to capture foreign visitors with various trade missions and invitations to buyers in the hotel and catering sector from more than 20 countries, the large restaurant chains and distributors. The areas in which the campaign has been most intensified are North Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America.

Hostelco, which will be held from the 23rd to the 27th of October, is an exhibition of Fira de Barcelona, the leading organiser of industrial and professional trade shows in Spain and one of the first four in Europe in number of events.
